DIY manicure and pedicure

wow!  i haven't posted since Friday! a lot of things have been going on!  first of all i got engaged on Saturday!!  i was so surprised!   i had no idea that he was going to propose!  do you want to hear the story??  i know you do!  well...he woke me up on Saturday morning to go on a hike.  i don't really like to  hike and i was mad that he was going to make me.  so we were hiking and i was in a really bad mood...sad huh??  so i walked over to a log and sat down and told him that i wasn't going to hike anymore.  so he came and sat by me and we talked and by now i was getting into a better mood.  right as we were going to leave he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!  i started crying as soon as he asked me!  i love him so much and i am very excited to be married!  we are planning for the wedding to be next summer so i have lots of time to plan!

as for more exciting news!  today was my very first job interview...ever!  i was really nervous and i am positive that my face was bright red as it always is when im talking to people.  i don't know what it is!  im fine talking, but my face gets super red!  it was an interview for Plato's closet and before the interview they had me fill out a packet with a bunch of questions about fashion and name brands...i think i bombed it!  i thought i knew a lot about fashion, but now im not so sure! haha.  overall i think the interview went really well!  i am nervous to hear back from them! i hope i got the job!!

these are the polishes i used.  i used a clear polish and an Art Deco white brush.  if you haven't used these you're missing out! they are so easy to use and i found mine at the dollar store!  all you do is follow the edge of your nail with the white polish.  if you can draw a straight line you can definitely do this!  after the white has dried add your clear coat and your done!  i love this nail style!  it only took me about 10 minutes to do both my fingers and toes!  i am a DIY kind of girl, so i would rather do this at home by myself and save but loads of money than go to a place and get them done.  first it takes less time, second it costs close to nothing (compared to the $20+ you usually spend getting your nails done), third they are easy to repair...i always hate it when girls have missing nails or if they haven't got them filled in a long time!  it just bugs me!

fashionista friday! summer circle scarf

I made this super cute scarf last night at like 10:00...i didn't have anything to wear, okay? haha.  this seriously took me like five minutes to make and the level of skill that involves making it is like zero... seriously, if i made this anybody can!  so i matched it with a pink shirt and a jean jacket with some cute white shorts that i now have to bleach for the hundredth time because i am a very messy girl! anyways...this is really light weight and i think it will be great for summer which i am very happy about because i love the layering style for winter with the scarves and sweaters and everything, but now it is summer and it is going to get hot, but a cute light weight scarf is a great way to accessorize and layer!

 1.  you will need a half yard of cotton fabric.

2. fold your fabric in half with right sides together and sew one long side and one short side.  remember to leave the other side open so that you can turn it right side out again!

3.  turn it right side out and sew the two short sides together.  Bam!  you have a beautiful summer scarf in just three simple steps!

trendy chic recycle week! day #3 toilet roll cuff bracelet

isnt this so cute!?!  i LOVE it soooo much!!!  when i first had the idea i didn't think that it would turn out this
cute!!  i love the colors i used!  i would have never put yellow and pink together before but i think it looks really good!  who would have thought that a piece of trash could be so chic?

you will need: scissors, some fabric, book pages, some bling! (like feathers and pearls), a toilet paper roll, mod podge, and a hot glue gun (not shown)

first you will need to get out your handy dandy...scissors!  cut your toilet paper roll in half so that it is still a full circle, but just shorter (hamburger style).  then cut the edges of the toilet paper roll so that they are curved just like the picture!  i found that the white rolls are stronger than the brown ones so i used a white one...i have a HUGE collection of these!  i have been accumulating them for a couple of months!! haha.  every time one runs out of toilet paper somebody adds it to the collection cause i have let everybody know that i am collecting them!

the words didn't focus very well, but you could probably tell that this is where i mod podged the book page onto the toilet paper roll.  all i did was tear out a page from a book and unroll the toilet paper roll so that it was flat.  then i traced it and cut it out.  after it was cut out i mod podged it!  after it was all done drying i started decorating it.  for the flowers all i did was cut out little circles and folded them twice so that they would look like a pie shape then i hot glued the tip and stuck it on!  i decorated this cuff with feathers, pearls, and fabric.  then i cut a strip of fabric out and hot glued the ends of it to the ends of the cuff so that it would be a tie.  the toilet paper roll is kinda skinny, so it doesn't reach all the way around my wrist.  this is why i needed a tie.  i hope you enjoyed this post!  and thanks for visiting my blog :)

trendy chic refashion week! day #2 the ruffled soda can ring

this is the beautiful ring that i made from recycled soda cans!  the soda can i made this one out of was A&W cream soda. it was really easy to make and it didn't take that long at all! i usually don't wear trash and try to avoid it at all cost, but i think this is too cute to pass up! haha.  i LOVE the ruffle design it makes!

i also though that it would be cute to spray paint it but hat would take away from the recycled look of it but i think it would be a good idea if you were going for more of a put together girly look...anyways here is the tutorial! (i forgot to number them so they just go in order from left to right)

1. you will need: a hot glue gun, scissors, and soda cans

2. first you will need to wash out your soda cans because nobody likes sticky fingers! then cut out nine circles about the size of a dime.

3. then you will fold them in half twice to make these pie shapes!  when you fold them they get squashed, so just open them up with the tip of your scissors.

4. now you will make the actual ring part!  to make it so you don't cut yourself cause tin cans are kinda sharp, i folded bot edges in and then i folded it in half so that it had nice curved edges!  then i hot glued the ends together.  the last and final step it to hot glue your ruffle flower to your ring! tada!  now you have a trashtastic piece of jewelry!

trendy chic recycle week! day #1 the magazine picture frame

this week on by blog is called...drum roll please....Trendy Chic Recycle Week!!!!!  awesome title huh?  my sister, my right hand woman, thought of this!  after recycle week, recycle my world, and saving the world one craft at a time we decided this was by far the best to choose from! ( i suck at choosing creative names for my posts if you haven't already noticed).  this week i will be posting crafts that i made using recycled items such as toilet paper rolls, magazines, soda cans, bottle caps, and soda bottles!  now get your crafty minds ready for the magazine picture frame tutorial!!! (again, i suck at posting names! haha.)

isn't this totally awesome!?!?  i saw one at Barnes and Noble a long long time ago and i really wanted to make one...so i did!  don't fool yourselves!  this project isn't all fun and games...haha.  it took me like three days.  i SUCK at rolling paper let me just tell you!  i think it turned out super cool and it cost me pretty much close to nothing, i mean its recycled!  the most awesome part about this is that it is recycled!  i am saving the world AND making beautiful pieces of artwork at. the. same. time!! so instead of listening to me babbling about how awesome this picture frame is you should check out the tutorial!

1. you will need a picture frame (i got mine from Michael's for $1.00 ), mod podge, old magazines, and a hot glue gun.

2. first you will need to mod podge pieces of magazine -papers  to your picture frame  this is so that if you have gaps in between the rolled paper it will be less noticeable.

3. tear out pieces of your magazine and roll them!  i am really terrible at rolling paper, so what i did was i dipped my finger in mod podge ( to keep the paper from unfolding) and i ran it along the very edge of the paper and i FOLDED it not rolled but folded...trust me it will turn out!  after it got thicker it looked circular...if it doesn't turn out to be circular then just pinch it until it does. i spent a LONG time trying to figure out how to roll it tightly and this was the best solution.  after i rolled it to the thickness i wanted it i sealed it with some more mod podge so that it wouldn't unroll.  after you have your paper rolls cut them to fit the frame and hot glue the in any pattern you wish!  i did mine diagonal which was a little tricky when it came to placing everything, but i think it looks cool!  i saw one in Texas that had the magazines rolled into circle shapes...im not that talented though! haha.

fashionista friday (on saturday)- my BIG yellow bow

this is my big yellow bow that i made yesterday!  i wore it with my owl t-shirt.  i thought it was pretty dang cute! haha even the owl on my shirt had a big yellow bow...twiners!  this was really easy to make and it literally took  me three minutes!  all i did was take some fabric and measure it to the size of my head, then i cut it and sewed the seams together.  then i  tied a bow around the seam!  it was just that easy!!  i think it would go really cute with a floral shirt and some shorts.  i think mustard yellow is now my favorite color! and by the way school gets out at the end of this week i am so excited!!!  and yesterday i filled out my very first job application and i also made my very own resume...that was also a first!! haha.  im growing up!  happy Saturday everyone and thanks for visiting!

cinnamon roll pancakes!

these are cinnamon roll pancakes!!  when i saw them they looked so good!  i had to try them.  so today me and my little sisters made them together.  everyone helped with measuring, pouring, and mixing!  the kitchen was a mess when we were done! haha.  this was a very easy to make recipe and all of the ingredients it called for we already had in the kitchen, so there is no need to go shopping!  i found this tasty  recipe over at melissas cuisine.  she is so amazing at cooking and baking!  she has every recipe you could ever imagine...seriously!  just take a minute to check out her blog if you haven't seen it yet cause it is so amazing!

summer sandal refashion-tribal chic

these are my new summer sandals!!!  i am so excited about them!  i got them at walmart last season for $3...i bought every color they had! haha.  i eventually got bored of how plain they were so i decided to dress them up a bit.  they were really easy to make and everything i needed to make them i already had in my craft stash!  i LOVE free crafts! i also am really loving picnik right now.  just in case you arent familiar with it, its a free site where you can touch up photos and make collages!  i made the picture up above which by the way took me like 3 minutes and i also made my new header!

  1. first i found an old sandal that needs some lovin!  i chose my yellow ones
  2. then i spray painted them all white.  i stuffed some paper where i didnt want white...i didnt do a good enough job though cause you can still see white.  haha oh well you cant see it when im wearing them!  then i cut off excess straps that i didnt want.
  3. i cut strips large enough to cover the small straps and i hot glued them on.
  4. then i cut out eight circles of the green fabric and i cut slits into them.  after i cut them i burned the edges with a lighter...the slits helped it to look more like a flower and less like a plain circle.  i hot glued the flowers onto the middle of the sandal and put pearls in the middle of the flowers (also with hot glue).
  5. lastly i cut and glued tan circles and put a single pearl in the middle, i also hot glues the feathers on and threaded the ribbon for the ankle ties.
that is all you do!  it is sooo easy and i think they look store bought!  thanks for stopping by!

8 (7 inch square) egg roll wrappers

shoes: GAP
jeans: Kohl's
refashioned shirt: Ross
necklace: handmade

i LOVE how this shirt turned out!!  its not how i originally planned it out to be, but i like it!  i think this outfit as a whole looks really good...i think its one of my favorites.  all i did to make this was cut the straps and bottom ruffle off, then i used the ruffle to make the sleeves.  it was just that easy!  i love  these jeans!  they WERE flares, but i turned them into skinnies (tutorial coming soon) they look so  much better as skinnies...but when i was all done taking pictures i sat down to look at them and my nephew decided to squirt my jeans with BLEACH!!!  wow thanks Micah...i love you too!  i hope they don't look that bad i might just bleach all of it and make them white but I'm not sure...
